In an abandoned facility somewhere, long unused machinery slowly rumbles to life. Aged gears start to spin, lights spark, monitors flicker and turn on…
It’s been… I dunno, eight months, since I last posted anything here… And I seem to remember posting something back then about posting more, too. That didn’t go anywhere, and I spent the past eight months wondering where the “” in everything came from, and what had caused me to quit. All that’s behind us now, and while I’m never going to say that this will last forever, I plan on at least trying to write more.
Part of the reason why I’m starting up again is because I’ve had a distinct lack of inspiration lately when it comes to character info, with the exception of a few bits and pieces here and there. My sister, Claire, says I need to just write more, so that’s where this comes in. Also, there were a few people wondering/asking if I would be posting anymore, and at the time, I really didn’t have an answer.
So, to catch things up… Warhammer (the subject of the last post before this), ended up being too shallow, story wise, and felt very empty. The battleground (“scenario”) situation where everyone was just sitting around queuing up and not doing anything else, didn’t help things. So, ultimately we found ourselves back in WoW, back on Alliance side, and I ended up ressurecting a 4 year old character – my very first, no less. Renamed and rearmored to get past the bad memories attached to him, he’s now 78, and, no thanks to the Recruit-a-friend program, Gina and I both have several level 60+ characters.
Of course all this will probably change once Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
And now off to mow the lawn!!!

With the advent of 2.4, and the breaking of all our addons, WoW will most likely be finding a new home – on a shelf. Our original plan just isn’t working out. Since I broke out of the 51-60 AV bracket with the paladin, PvP hasn’t been quite as fun, and while I enjoy running instances, not having a tank that I know I can count on not to be stupid just doesn’t work out well for me.
All in all, the game was enjoyable for quite some time, but in the end, when only 2 people really make it worth playing, and they release content that, in many eyes, was too little, too late, that also breaks a part of the game that you rely heavily on, it’s probably time to leave. ESPECIALLYwhen one of the people making it worth playing is your wife, who no longer wants to play at all… And of course this is the culmination of an on-again, off-again spree which pretty much epitomizes our tenuous relationships with the various MMO’s that we’ve played in the past – and if that’s not enough, take a look at my wife’s character line up.
Granted, of course, this does not mean that leaving the game comes easily, as even the few ties that bind me to the game aren’t easy to break. One of them will mean the probable loss of a good friend, but with luck, we might be able to keep in touch. The other is this blog. While it’s hardly even 6 months old, I feel like I’ve put a lot into it - a lot more than any other web based project I’ve started on in the past, for sure. I’m not about to let it end lightly. So, over the coming weeks, after everything is settled down with the house, I plan on making some changes to the site and picking back up on the writing.

There’s a new thing in town, pulling all of us WoW bloggers in to form a closer community: Blog Azeroth. Quite a few people have mentioned it on their blogs already, and it seems to be growing at an exponential rate. I’ll likely be lurking around there and pulling ideas for posts for here.
Things are going wonky at work, once again, but this time it’s a bit worse. We’ve gone to 12+ hour shifts, meaning my schedule now consists of work, sleep, and that’s about it. Next week, I’ll be going to a different shift before being sent to Florida for a few weeks. As a result of this, my posting will likely be sporadic. I’ll post when I can though.
